This program is developed in the framework of joint education and will be carried out in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS).
This is a 7-year program where the pre-clinical phase (1-3 years) is conducted by EMU in North Cyprus and the clinical phase (4-7 years) is conducted by IUMS (Iran University of Medical Sciences) in Iran.
Students who complete their pre-clinical phase will receive a 50% scholarship in the clinical phase of their studies at IUMS (Iran University of Medical Sciences).
The pre-clinical stage of medical training takes place at EMU and its affiliated public hospitals – including the largest public hospital in Northern Cyprus, Burhan Nalbantoğlu. The clinical stage of medical education in Iran is carried out in 17 hospitals affiliated with the Iran University of Medical Sciences, serving more than 87,000 patients annually, and 29 research centers such as the Research Center for Intestinal and Liver Diseases, etc.
The common curriculum integrates basic science education and clinical education with community-based learning. An education in medical history, ethics, and even literature broadens the learning experience.
Throughout the curriculum, emphasis is placed on small groups and seminar learning. Instruction is provided in a well-designed environment that includes up-to-date, scientific laboratories.
There are four student laboratories equipped with advanced audio and video systems for basic science courses and laboratories. In addition, there are four laboratories for research and practical sessions. Also, the faculty has equipped a sports laboratory according to the latest technology for practicing and verifying the data of students in applied biophysics and physiology courses. The anatomy laboratory is equipped with advanced 3D viewing technology, which supports dissection tables and similar models of every human organ, enabling students to study and synthesize clinical knowledge and its application in the latest standards. An advanced computer lab is also used to apply the theoretical knowledge learned in biostatistics.
In addition, the university library has its medical library and also includes student club rooms, recreation rooms, sports rooms, and a cafeteria.
The cost of studying medicine at EMU University, in the first stage in Northern Cyprus, is $10,000 for each semester, which must be paid in three installments, and in the clinical stage at Iran University of Medical Sciences, the student receives a 50% scholarship and must pay $5,000 per semester.
